What kind of rewards can I earn when I submit a receipt?
When you submit a receipt that is eligible for a reward, you will earn a Base Reward. Please see our Terms and Conditions for the available Base Rewards.
From time to time, you may receive additional complimentary bonuses for submitting receipts.
Additionally, if a receipt meets certain criteria, you may be eligible for additional rewards, such as for the presence of specific brands and products on a receipt.
What are the ways in which I can submit a receipt?
At present, the following methods are accepted for submission of receipts, if made available to you:

| ✅ In-App image share | A receipt may be submitted by using the image selection feature for receipts within the ShopBack app. Generally, JPEG and PNG images will be accepted. |
| ✅ In-App file share | A receipt may be submitted by using the file share feature for receipts within the ShopBack app. Generally, only PDF files will be accepted. |
| ✅ Share dialog for images | A receipt may be submitted by tapping the share icon from another app where images can be shared. Generally, JPEG and PNG images will be accepted. |
| ✅ Share dialog for files | A receipt may be submitted by tapping the share icon from another app where files can be shared. Generally, only PDF files will be accepted. |
| ✅ Sync ShopBack Online purchase receipts | A receipt may be synchronised, when you choose to do so, from a purchase you make where you start with ShopBack and where the purchase is tracked by ShopBack from a supported store. |
| ✅ Sync receipts for emails | A receipt may be synchronised, when you choose to do so, from an email account that you connect with ShopBack for specific stores that are supported. |
At present, we do not actively support the following methods (but may do so in the future):
- Saving an email as a PDF
- Forwarding an email
- Connecting the membership account
- Taking a screenshot of an email or app
My receipt submission was not accepted. What should I do?
A receipt might not be accepted for a variety of reasons. Receipt submission attempt may not be accepted for the following reasons:
- Receipt is blurry
- Receipt is incomplete
- Multiple receipts are included in a single image or PDF
- You have reached your limit for the day or week
If you attempted to share the receipt by taking a photo or sharing from an image or PDF and it failed for one of the reasons above, then you can try again.
Unfortunately, if a receipt is rejected for other reasons, either initially or subsequently, then that receipt will not be accepted on a further attempt. Instead, try sharing other receipts that meet the eligible receipt criteria.
Why was my receipt submission rejected?
Receipts may either be initially or subsequently rejected for a variety of reasons. Key reasons why a receipt might be rejected include:
- Receipt is identified as a duplicate
- Receipt does not meet the eligible receipt criteria, e.g. is too old, is not from the list of eligible retailers
- Receipt has been identified as being tampered with or artificially generated
- The user behaviour suggests attempts to abuse the ShopBack platform
Rest assured, if you share authentic receipts from your own personal purchases, meet the eligibility criteria and don’t attempt to abuse the ShopBack platform, your receipts should be accepted and earn rewards.
Where does the reward come from? Are there any catches?
ShopBack funds rewards by working with different partner brands and agencies to meet particular objectives, such as marketing or research. As long as you meet the criteria for an eligible receipt and any bonus criteria for specific brands and products, you will be eligible to receive a reward.
How long does it typically take for my receipt to be processed?
When you share a receipt by taking a photo or sharing from an image or PDF, once the receipt has been submitted, on average, it will typically take up to 15 seconds for the receipt to be evaluated for successful submission.
When you share a receipt by syncing it from a ShopBack online purchase, it may take 2 days or longer for the receipt to become available after you complete the purchase. Once available, when you sync the purchase, it will typically take a few minutes to be evaluated for successful submission.
When you share a receipt by syncing it from your email account, it may take a few minutes for the receipt to be evaluated for successful submission.
Once successfully submitted, a receipt will undergo automated analysis to discover brands and products that are eligible for rewards. This will usually take up to 10 minutes to complete, but may be as long as 24 hours to identify all matches.
If the receipt is eligible for rewards, those rewards will become Tracked. Rewards will change to become Confirmed after:
- Their validation period has elapsed, and no review has caused a reason for the receipt to be rejected. (Validation periods are defined according to the list of eligible retailers); and
- You have added a cashback withdrawal method to your ShopBack account.
Processing and automated analysis times may take longer to complete, such as for large receipts and peak periods.
Can I submit multiple receipts?
When submitting a receipt by snapping a photo or uploading an image or PDF, for each submission, you should submit only 1 receipt. This may be in the form of a single image (for physical receipts) or a single PDF document (for e-receipts). If you attempt to share multiple receipts in a single submission, the submission will be rejected.
When you sync receipts from ShopBack online purchases or your email account, receipts will be identified and synchronised 1 by 1 up to any relevant limits that apply.
Receipts that are identified as duplicates will be rejected.
What is the current list of eligible retailers/stores, and what are their validation periods?
The table below outlines the list of retailers that are eligible for receipt submission and rewards.
The table also outlines the typical period for which validation takes place once a reward is tracked, but before it becomes confirmed. Validation periods may occasionally be longer than the stated typical validation period, but will be no longer than 30 days.
If a receipt is identified as not being from one of these eligible retailers, then it will not be accepted for submission.

How old can a receipt be for submission?
Checks are performed to compare the date on the receipt against the date for which the receipt is being submitted.
Receipts older than 28 days will generally not be accepted for submission.
What are the current limits and restrictions that apply to receipts?
The table outlines the different limits that apply for receipts and the restrictions that may be imposed if those limits are met or exceeded.
Limits apply independently for each method available to share receipts. Currently, there are 3 primary methods to share a receipt:
- Snap a photo or upload an image or PDF
- Synchronise a receipt from a ShopBack online purchase
- Synchronise a receipt from your email account(s)

What are some of the requirements for a receipt to be eligible for submission?
A receipt submission at a minimum must meet the following requirements:
- Is an authentic, original receipt for your personal purchases
- Contain the name of the retailer/store, date of the receipt, total amount of the receipt and the items purchased
- Be a complete receipt, not a partial receipt
- Be clearly readable, not blurry
- Be a single receipt and not a duplicate
- Be a purchase receipt or tax invoice, not an order confirmation, payment receipt, refund receipt, screenshot, email capture or delivery docket
- Be an image for physical receipts or a PDF for e-receipts
- Be submitted within a certain number of days
- Be from one of the list of eligible retailers
What should I do if I have missing or incorrect rewards?
If you notice that some of your rewards are missing or incorrect, please prepare the receipt details - including the submission date, retailer name, receipt date, and the reward that appears missing or incorrect. These details will help our support team review your case efficiently.
