ShopBack Receipts: Programme FAQs

Earning Cashback

What Cashback can I earn when I share a receipt?

Every accepted receipt earns base Cashback. Share a receipt from one of 500+ stores and once it's accepted, you'll earn Cashback.

The amount varies by receipt. See our Terms and Conditions for details.

Tip: you can earn extra Cashback with offers on selected products and stores. Offers can add up, so one receipt can earn Cashback from more than one offer. Check the available offers in the Receipts tab before you shop.

Where does the Cashback come from? Are there any catches?

ShopBack works with partner brands and agencies to fund Cashback, for objectives such as marketing or research. As long as your receipt meets the requirements below, and any conditions on the offer, you'll earn the Cashback.

Tracking and confirming your Cashback

How long does it take for my receipt to be checked?

  • Snapped or uploaded receipts: usually checked within 15 seconds.
  • Receipts from your connected email: usually a few minutes.

Once your receipt is accepted, we check it for products and stores with offers. This usually takes up to 10 minutes, but can take up to 24 hours to find every match. Large receipts and busy periods may take longer.

When will my Cashback be confirmed?

Once your receipt has been checked, your Cashback will show as Tracked. It will become Confirmed after the validation period has elapsed and no review has caused a reason for the receipt or Cashback to be rejected.

Most Cashback is Confirmed after 7 days. Some Cashback takes longer, including percentage-based in-store Cashback offers, because we need to wait until the store's return period has ended before confirming it.

What should I do if my Cashback is missing or incorrect?

In the unlikely event that Cashback is missing or incorrect, contact us through ShopBack's in-app support. Remember to reference the receipt information including the date it was shared, store name, date of the receipt and the Cashback that is missing or incorrect.

What does my receipt need to show?

To be accepted, your receipt must:

  • Be an authentic, original receipt for your own personal shopping
  • Be from an accepted store
  • Show the store name, the date, the total amount and the items you bought
  • Be complete (not cut off) and clearly readable (not blurry)
  • Be a single receipt, and not one you've already shared
  • Be a purchase receipt or tax invoice, not an order confirmation, payment receipt, refund receipt, screenshot, email capture or delivery docket
  • Be a photo for paper receipts, or a PDF for e-receipts
  • Be shared within 28 days of buying

My receipt wasn't accepted. What should I do?

You can try again if your receipt wasn't accepted because:

  • It was blurry
  • It was incomplete
  • More than 1 receipt was in the same photo or PDF
  • You'd reached your daily or weekly limit (try again after the limit resets)

You can't share that receipt again if it was rejected, either straight away or later, because:

  • It's a duplicate of a receipt that's already been shared
  • It doesn't meet the receipt requirements above, for example it's too old or isn't from an accepted store
  • It looks tampered with or artificially generated
  • Account activity suggests misuse of the ShopBack platform

Rest assured, if you share authentic receipts from your own shopping and meet the requirements, your receipts should be accepted and earn Cashback.

How old can a receipt be?

Share your receipt within 28 days of buying. We check the date on the receipt against the date you share it, and receipts older than 28 days generally won't be accepted.

Can I share more than one receipt at a time?

Share 1 receipt at a time: 1 photo for a paper receipt, or 1 PDF for an e-receipt. If a photo or PDF includes more than 1 receipt, it won't be accepted.

Receipts found in your connected email are added 1 by 1, up to the limits below.

What are the limits on sharing receipts?

Limits apply separately to each way of sharing a receipt: snapping/uploading and email synced receipts.
