The Basics
What is the ShopBack to Velocity Points cashout?
It's a way to redeem your ShopBack Cashback balance directly into Velocity Points, which you can put toward flights and other rewards with Virgin Australia's Velocity Frequent Flyer programme.
How do I redeem my Cashback for Velocity Points?
In the ShopBack app, go to Redeem Cashback section and select the Points tab. Link your Velocity Frequent Flyer membership details, First Name, Last Name and Membership Number per registered with Velocity Frequent Flyer, then choose how much Cashback you'd like to redeem for.
What's the redemption rate?
$1 of Cashback = 50 Velocity Points.
Is there a minimum or maximum amount I can redeem?
Yes — redemptions are limited to a minimum of $5 and a maximum of $600 per redemption.
Just keep in mind that your $600 daily limit is shared across all the ways you can cash out. Bank transfers have their own limits (a $10 minimum and $300 maximum per day), and whatever you send to your bank comes out of that same $600 daily cap.
Example: if you transfer $300 to your bank, you'll have $300 left to redeem for Velocity Points that same day. If you redeem your full $600 for points in one go, you'll just need to wait until tomorrow to make a bank transfer.
Is there a service fee or admin fee charged for my redemption?
No — there are zero fees for redemption of Cashback to Velocity Points.
Am I eligible to redeem for Velocity Points?
You will need to be a ShopBack user residing in Australia with a ShopBack account that is in good standing. You will also need to accumulate a minimum redeemable Cashback balance of $5 to make any redemption to Velocity Points. Cashback that are under pending status will not be eligible for redemption.
You will also need to be a Velocity Frequent Flyer user residing in Australia with a Velocity account that is in good standing. If you do not have a Velocity account, you can join and signup for a free membership with Velocity either via their app or website https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/.
Will I earn Velocity Status Credits for my redemption?
No — you will not earn any Velocity Status Credits for your Cashback redemption to Velocity Points. For Velocity Points that are redeemed for Reward Seats with Virgin Australia, no Velocity Status Credits will be earned as well. To earn Velocity Status Credits, you can do so by booking Virgin Australia flights through ShopBack. You will be able to earn Cashback awarded by ShopBack which is redeemable for Velocity Points, earn Velocity Points and Velocity Status Credits awarded by Velocity, earn bank points when you pay with selected bank credit cards and redeem bank points to Velocity Points.
Can I redeem Velocity Points to another Velocity Frequent Flyer account other than mine?
No — Your First Name, Last Name and Membership Number has to match with the records with Velocity, so you cannot redeem to another Velocity account such as your partner or family member. To ensure that your redemption is not rejected by Velocity, please link only your own Velocity Frequent Flyer account.
Timing & Status
How long does it take for Velocity Points to land in my Velocity account?
Please allow up to 10 working days for your Velocity Points to be credited. Processing times may be slightly longer around public holidays.
If Something Goes Wrong
What happens if my redemption is rejected?
If your Velocity account is in good standing but your redemption was rejected, please double-check that your first name, last name, and membership number entered as likely there is a mismatch of details against the records registered with Velocity and try initiating a redemption again.
If your redemption is still being rejected after multiple tries despite your membership details being correct, there may be other reasons for Velocity rejecting your redemption. In that case, please contact Velocity via their main website https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/member-support to find out more on the reason for the rejections.
Will I get my Cashback back if the redemption fails?
Yes. If a points redemption fails, your original Cashback is automatically refunded to your ShopBack balance — no need to raise a request.
Can I cancel or reverse a redemption once it's gone through?
No. Once a redemption is successful and points have been credited, it can't be refunded or reversed.
I entered the wrong Velocity membership number — what should I do?
Remove the linked account in the app and re-add it with the correct details. If you've already submitted a redemption with the wrong details, it will typically be rejected within a few days, after which your Cashback will be automatically refunded.
I haven't received my points — what should I do?
Please get in touch with our Customer Service team and we'll look into it for you. If our records show the points crediting response from Velocity was successful, we may ask you to also check with Velocity directly to resolve your points crediting issue.
